How to Take Basic Measurements for Size Selection

Everything you need to know before placing your order — from sizing and production to shipping and returns. Clear answers to help you feel confident at every step.

Note: These measurements will help you determine your standard size. If you’re considering a Custom Fit dress, a more detailed set of measurements is required. Explore our fitting options to learn more.

Use a Soft Measuring Tape

Always use a flexible sewing measuring tape rather than a metal tape measure. A soft tape follows the natural curves of the body and provides more accurate results.

Choose the Right Undergarments

For the most accurate results, wear a well-fitting, supportive bra that creates a natural bust shape, and avoid sports bras or compression tops, as they may distort your measurements.

Measure Your Bust

Wear a supportive bra and measure around the fullest part of your bust. Do not wear a sports bra or any garment that alters your natural bust shape.

Check in a mirror that the measuring tape stays level from front to back and remains parallel to the floor. The tape should sit comfortably against the body without digging into the skin.

Measure Your Waist

Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, usually above the belly button and below the ribcage.

Avoid measuring where your jeans or skirts usually sit. Use a mirror to check that the tape stays straight and level all the way around.

Measure Your Hips

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks.

Make sure the tape remains parallel to the floor and does not ride up in the back.

Make Sure to Include Your Height

Measure your height without shoes while standing straight against a wall.

Height is an important part of sizing and helps us determine whether Standard Size, Adjusted Fit, or Custom Fit may be the most suitable option.

A Few Additional Tips

Record Exact Numbers

Write down the exact number shown on the measuring tape rather than estimating or rounding measurements. Even small differences can affect the fit of a made-to-order dress.

Measure More Than Once

We recommend taking each measurement two or three times to make sure the numbers are consistent. Small mistakes can happen, especially when measuring at home.
